Must-Have Monday: Wedding Must-Haves

April showers bring May flowers.

What do May flowers bring?

WEDDINGS.

(Okay, I know that’s not the right answer from the grade school poem, but in our twenty-something minds, you know it’s true.)

Wedding season is upon us, and in case you didn’t know, our friends are getting engaged. Which means we have to put on a fancy dress (or suit and tie) and a smile as we meet up with people we haven’t seen since high school.

At the ripe old age of 22, I attended my first two weddings, ever. (It’s a long story…) My cousin got married in April, and three months later, my college friend got married. Both were black tie, so I wanted to wear something that was functional and that would last me the entire wedding season.

If you’re one of the lucky ones that have a big celebration coming up, take a look at our five must-haves for any wedding type:

Guys:

Lightweight Suit

Bonobos “The Foundation” Seersucker Suit in Navy, $400, Bonobos.com

Yes, $400 is a lot for a suit. But, if you’re going to a lot of weddings this summer, it just might be worth the investment. Plus, you can wear the pieces as separates–wear the pants with a dress shirt for a more casual wedding, or pair the suit jacket with khaki pants.

Dress Shirt

You’ll get major style cred with a fun printed tie.

Because there’s always somewhere you’d rather be, so why not have a little fun?

Girls:

LBD

The LBD is the quintessential item for any wedding type–the right accessories make the outfit dressy or casual.

Even in the description, it says it’s a “must have for wedding season”.

A fuller skirt gives you more room for cake.

Statement Necklace

The perfect complement to an LBD.

Chain-link purse

Hands-free is the way to go, and a chain-link makes whatever you’re wearing a little more glamorous. Bonus if it doubles as a clutch.

Flask

Because, duh, it’s the only classy way to survive wedding season.

Good luck and enjoy!!

  1. Haha. Fun post. That flask wallet is genius. I have only attended two weddings in my life time. One was mine and one was a friends. For my wedding, we had it on my wife birthday in November (11.12.13) and only invited 25 people.

So glad we did. Wedding are exhausting and cost so much money. The one wedding I attended I was the best man and it cost my fiancé (at the time) and I over $550 to be a part off.

Good luck to everyone this wedding season.
