Everyone’s favourite indie actress has cemented her mainstream popularity with the latest hit series ‘New Girl’. Since ‘Gigantic’ and ‘500 Days of Summer’ we have been smitten with her glossy dark hair, big blue eyes and vintage styling. Here are some of our favourite Zooey fashion moments:
2012 Golden Globes
Zooey went for a sizzling 1960s look at the Golden Globes. We love her voluminous shoulder-length hair and heavy eye make-up. The green of the custom Prada dress is an unusual choice, but the sparkling glass pearls really make for a stand-out look.
‘500 Days of Summer’ Los Angeles Premiere
500 Days of Summer was the film that really saw Zooey break through into the mainstream, and we all started to take notice of her amazing style! Her simple vintage-inspired Naeem Khan gown made her look demure and pretty, and the addition of sparkling dropper earrings and hair clip added a quirky touch.
‘Our Idiot Brother’ Premiere
This was a tricky look to make work, but Zooey managed it perfectly! An up-do and absence of accessories let the dramatic black and white ruffles of this Moschino gown take centre stage. We applaud Zooey for what is probably her biggest fashion risk!
2012 Emmy Awards
My personal favourite of Zooeys looks; this icy blue Grace Kelly-esque gown by Reem Acra complemented Zooey’s porcelain skin and dark hair perfectly, whilst a bold pink lipstick really stood out against the delicate shade of the dress.
New Girl Press Conference
Zooey’s dressed-down style is just as adorable as her red carpet looks. She wore her trademark cardigan and black tights combination, with a sweet and simple shirt dress, for the New Girl press conference.
Get Zooey’s Style!
Getting the basics of Zooey’s style is easier than you may think. Her staple look consists of simple and feminine shapes – a dress cinched in at the waist with a belt and full skirt is a favourite style of hers. She is also a big fan of cardigans, pairing them with most casual looks, and thick opaque black tights, having said she will wear them whatever the weather!
Zooey’s trademark look is of course her thick bangs and shiny dark hair. Make-up should be pretty and girly, with emphasis on rosy pink cheeks and thick eyelashes. False lashes and smokey eye shadow can be added for extra dramatic effect for evening looks.
Quirky additions and details dress up Zooey’s look for the evening. Backcombed hairstyles with sparkling hair clips and earrings dress up her outfit, and she swaps her flat ballet pumps for simple heels, often in a court style.
