New Girl Style Spotter: Everyone Is A Hot Mess

In this week’s episode of New Girl (Cooler), there were some, er, interesting fashion choices to say the least. Everything about the episode was ridiculous, which was appropriately reflected by the hilarious outfits and over-the-top fashion faux-pas. From failed pick-up attempts, to closet-cleaning, to a sexy game of True American, Nick and Jess came out on top with the most questionable style choices.

Trench Coat Nick

Nick spends most of the episode in a women’s trench coat that was mistakenly delivered to the loft. He is fully aware that he is cross-dressing, but claims the coat gives him confidence and makes him feel “hot-to-trot.” He describes his new coat as having “clean lines and pockets that won’t quit.” While these attributes can also be true of a classic men’s trench, guys, listen up – if your coat has an A-line silhouette, you are most definitely cross-dressing. Much to the opposition of his roommates, Nick wears his new treasure out to the bar to try to pick up girls, and does not take it off (not even to sleep), until the coat’s rightful owner takes it back. Now that your coat is gone, Nick, what’s next – meggings?

Jess Plays Dress Up

Jess is left alone in the loft since Nick dubs her his “cooler” aka she kills his game when they’re all out together. She resigns to a night of cleaning her closet and trying out her new ice cream maker. This basically turns into her trying on every odd combination of clothing possible. Her main outfit is a red tutu paired with a red and white striped baseball tee. I don’t exactly recommend trying this out yourself, but if you want to go for it, you can find a similar tutu from American Apparel and striped tee from Gap.

All crazy outfits aside, this episode was a game changer. The moment we’ve all been waiting for since practically the first episode of Season 1 has FINALLY arrived… Nick and Jess kiss!!! We’ve all been waiting for this to happen, but honestly, I was losing hope that it ever actually would. Leave it to New Girl to deliver such a crucial, anticipated moment in such an unexpected way. I can’t wait to see how this will play out in the rest of the season… bring on the awkwardness!
