It’s technically a religious holiday, but what fun is your Easter if you’re not running around looking for eggs in a yard or peeing on the Easter Bunny’s lap at the mall? There are many different reasons for people to celebrate Easter Sunday, but the one thing I think we can all agree with is that Easter is way more fun for adults than it is for kids, and here’s why.

1. The money in those Easter eggs can actually mean something.

I never really thought about it as a kid, but what good is a twenty-dollar bill going to do when you’re seven? What are you honestly going to spend that on? If you’re an adult and you come across an Easter egg with a twenty in it, you can actually help fill up your gas tank, pay a bill, or buy yourself a drink to help you forget about the bill.

2. It’s more fun to wear pastel.

When I was a kid, I didn’t care what I was wearing. In fact, it would embarrass me to no end when my mother would buy me a “special” Easter outfit and I’d be forced to wander around in some flouncy dress. Today, I would probably burst into tears of happiness if anyone if my life actually bought me a “special” Easter outfit.

3. You can actually make it through an Easter egg dyeing session without getting bored.

It was always difficult for me to sit still through the process of dying Easter eggs, let alone taking the time to do designs. As an adult, this is one of the few creative outlets we have left to forget about how boring our jobs are. Grab that egg and give it your all!

4. The food is so much better.

How many times have you found yourself at a family function where the little cousin pushes his/her plate away and pouts, “I want to be done!” Are you kidding? Because I’ll finish my plate and yours too—this is the first meal I’ve had in months that I didn’t get out of a plastic container.

5. Confetti eggs are somehow more exciting.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense that grown-ups get more pleasure out of throwing eggs filled with confetti at one another than children, but I’ve witnessed this with my own eyes. Last Easter my baby cousins were napping while the rest of us were sprinting around the front yard and laughing hysterically.

6. Church is more interesting.

Whether or not you’re religious doesn’t really matter on Easter Sunday, because you’ll find people at church services who are otherwise absent throughout the year. I don’t care where you are or what day it is—people-watching is always amazing.

7. You can dress up as the Easter Bunny.

This isn’t necessarily something I’d want to do, but for all I know it could be someone’s lifelong dream out there. As a child, you’re too small to pull off the Easter Bunny, but as a big bad adult, you can do anything you want.

8. If you’re lucky, your Easter basket will really be pimped out.

Okay, I haven’t actually gotten one of these since I was a kid, but I’d imagine there are a few lucky adults out there who still receive Easter baskets, and once you’re in your twenties, candy just isn’t going to cut it anymore. Throw in some new blouses and a few snacks and we’ll talk.
