Your dad is 50% responsible for your existence today. He has been with you since birth, through your moody teenage days, and is probably now helping you with adulthood. Dads are awesome. Let’s give ’em some credit!
1. Dads can be strict, but you probably deserved it. Coming home after curfew seemed like a great idea when you were 16, but it wasn’t. You probably got your computer privileges revoked, or your car taken away, but that’s what happens when you break rules. Dad was just looking out for you.
2. Dads have different opinions than moms. Your dad will probably not tell you that your butt doesn’t look good in that dress, because that would be weird. Leave it to Dad to tell you you look great or fine or whatever adjectives dads use.
3. Dads can (usually) fix things. Stereotypical, but your dad probably has a toolbox and can tell you what’s wrong with your car. Or if he’s not the handy type, he can look over your tax forms or (insert your dad’s talent here.) Dads are talented!
4. Dads like listening. Your dad will lend an ear to your work problems, your money problems, your car problems, your whatever problems, or just about whatever you want to talk about.
5. Dads will go behind your mom’s back…in a good way. Mom said no to Oreos at the grocery store, but your dad will sneak them into the cart and hide them in the back of the cupboard.
6. Dads have fun interests. Mom probably doesn’t want to go fishing at the crack of dawn, but your dad will hit the water before the sun comes up. Therefore you have all kinds of fun things to do.
7. Dads are funny. Okay, so both of my parents are hilarious, but I can’t think of the last time I talked to my dad and DIDN’T laugh.
8. Dads will do just about anything for you. You’ve probably seen all those stories about dads dressing up like characters from Frozen for their daughters. Dads just do things.
Happy Father’s Day, dads!
