DJ IllMATTic’s Weekend Countdown

Ok so here we go: This is the weekend countdown of the hottest new music out on the web. The countdown will be split into two categories: Rap/Hip-hop and Electro/Mash-up/Dance.

RAP/HIP-HOP TOP 5
5. Trey Palms(ft The Dream)-Ever Since.
I don’t know why, but this song just gets to me everytime I hear it.

4. Mac Miller (ft Wale)-So What.
This song dropped yesterday and is pretty good. If your not up on Mac Miller, he’s a white rapper from Pittsburgh and a good friend of famous rapper Wiz Khalifa. Definitely worth a listen.

3. Tayyib Ali- California Love.
A young rapper out of California, Tayyib Ali has been straight up killing it with his recent tracks. He dropped this one the other day and plans on dropping a mixtape in the near future.

2. XV-Foreign Exchange Student.
XV is another young rapper, and will be performing with Boston native The Dean’s List on Sunday at the Middle East Night Club in Cambridge. Should be an unreal show. Anyways, XV has been putting out some great music and this one is straight fire.

1. Chiddy Bang(ft Mac Miller)-Heatwave.
Alright, so maybe I’m a little biased because Mac will be performing at Northeastern’s Springfest tomorrow with Wiz Khalifa and Third Eye Blind and I will be in attendance. But so what. Two great young artists, Chiddy Bang and Mac, collaborate on this track, and are complimented by a pretty catchy chorus. You won’t be let down by this song.

ELECTRO/MASH-UP/DANCE TOP 5
5. The Dean’s List-La Vie.
As I mentioned before, I will be seeing The Dean’s List on Sunday and cannot wait. If you have not given them a listen, your really missing out. This concert will be absolutely nuts. Middle East Night Club. Cambridge, MA. Sunday Night. Get tickets.

4. 5 & A Dime-Stereo Thongs.
This mash-up group has been doing some big things lately. They dropped a mixtape a little while back, and another mash-up that was pretty unbelievable.

3. The White Panda-Fly & Freaky.
For all of you who don’t know, The White Panda is a mash-up group that has been around for a couple of years. They recently dropped a mixtape, Pandamonium, which was about 50 straight minutes of mini mash-up tracks. They had a poll on their website for which songs to turn into full tracks, and this was one of them. Unbelievable combination of songs.

2. The Dean’s List-Dear Professor.
How to describe The Dean’s List? Smooth rapping by Sonny Shotz over electro beats by Mik Beats. This group is like no one else. They have their own genre, Electro-Hop. But in all seriousness, this is one of the best songs I’ve heard in weeks. Everyone I’ve showed it too has responded in a big way. You will too.

1. David Guetta(ft Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj)-Where Dem Girls At.
Between this and Little Bad Girl which dropped last week, David Guetta has been making some serious moves. You will have this song on repeat all weekend long. Give it a listen, it will get you into weekend mode.
