All good things must come to an end, as the dog days of summer are slowly winding down. With many of my friends going back to school or starting their big girl jobs, it can only mean one thing: fall is here. Though I am not in either boat, I still get excited when the middle of August rolls around, as fashion magazines unveil their September issues examining the latest trends for the upcoming season. Here are six things I can’t wait to wear:

American Eagle AE V-Neck Pullover Sweater in Oatmeal, $29.95, Ae.com

American Eagle Sweater

I live in V-Neck sweaters all season long, and this is the perfect neutral to go with anything from colored denim to basic blues. It’s going to be a great layering piece come winter.

Animal Print Dolman Top, $32.90, Alloy.com

Alloy Animal Print Dolman Top

Sophisticated with a hint of sexy, this top is trendy enough with the animal print but not too loud with the neutral gray color. I’d wear this with skinny black jeans and high-heel booties for a night out, or dark skinny jeans and tan flat boots for day.

Express Aztec Print Oblong Scarf in Midnight Plum, $34.90, Express.com

Scarves are one of my many accessories weaknesses (besides shoes, of course), and are the perfect addition to a basic outfit. This one is great for fall with both the print and the material and is an easy way to transition from summer to fall.

Gap 1969 Legging Cords in Clear Lake Blue, $59.95, Gap.com

Gap Legging Cords

I also live in leggings, and these colored corduroy jeggings are the perfect pants to fit into fall’s tall boots. Plus, the teal color is one of the season’s hottest hues.

…And Everything Nice Lace Dress in Burgundy, $41.00, Lulus.com

Lulu's Burgundy Dress

This dress, in one of the best shades for fall, comes with a studded black vegan leather waistband to add a rocker vibe to the girly lace. Pair with a long black cardigan, black tights and heels for a modern nighttime look.

Quicksilver Girls Rugby Stripe Dress, $49.50, Swell.com

Quicksilver Rugby Stripe Dress

Who knew that the surf and snowboard line known for graphic tees and name brand sweatshirts actually creates cute items for women? This striped dress, from the contrasting cognac and navy stripes to the three-quarter sleeve, is an awesome option for daytime. Wear it now with a blazer and flats for now, and add tights when the weather gets colder.
