Saturday marked the beginning of December, which means the holidays are really almost here. My favorite part about the holiday season is having an excuse to get all dressed up in something sparkly, glamorous, and fun, and there’s no better way to do that than with the perfect holiday dress! This season’s party dresses are all about bold, saturated colors, embellished details, shiny gold fabrics, and sequins.

Check out some of my favorite December party dresses below, along with a few fun accessories to complete your holiday look. Between work holiday parties and family celebrations, it’s likely you’ll have somewhere to wear one of these stunning dresses during the month of December!

Pleated Dress with Jewelled Collar, $100, Zara

You can never, ever go wrong with a bold red dress. This one from Zara has a classic, flattering shape, and the jewels at the collar really make it festive.

Motel Wild One Sequined Dress, $125, Urban Outfitters

I’m a sucker for sequins, and this dazzling, sparkly dress does not disappoint! The top looks like a cross between disco and mardi gras, but the simple, flowy black skirt keeps it from going overboard.

Gold Stripe Drop Hem Dress, $120, Topshop

I love the unique shape and material of this dress. The drop waist and shiny, gold mesh fabric really make it stand out!

Kimchi Blue Broken Spell Dress, $79, Urban Outfitters

I fell in love with this dress the second Urban Outfitters released their 12 Days of Dresses. The soft gold jacquard material is just gorgeous, and the high neckline and piping details add a bit of edge. I think it would also make a stunning New Year‘s dress.

River Island Lace Top Swing Dress, $70, ASOS

This dress is not quite as polished as the others, with its asymmetrical hem and boxy mesh top. I think it would look great with a pair of tights and combat boots, to really play with the edgy vibe.

Sequined Jacquard Dress, $228, Anthropologie

This dress is polished, feminine, and festive. The combination of the shiny jacquard print and the gold sequined top will light up any party!

For more holiday dress inspiration, Lucky Magazine did a great piece on ASOS party dresses organized by city. The image above shows their picks for San Francisco. I’d say they captured the laid-back, west coast vibe pretty well.

Studded Vamp Heel and Ankle Strap, $129, Zara

These studded pumps are a fun alternative to classic black heels. Talk about ‘business in the front, party in the back!’

Box Clutch with Chains, $90, Zara

Another great pick from Zara, this bold clutch is a unique addition to any party dress. The best part about it is the different colored metals all mixed together, meaning this is license to mix your silver and gold jewelry!

Sweet Scandal Rhinestone Necklace, $68, Urban Outfitters

My favorite way to finish off a party dress is with a statement necklace. I love this one, because it’s delicate and bold at the same time, and its simple shape would work with many different dresses.
