With the cooler weather upon us, it seems that the dog days of summer are slowly coming to an end. While you make the most of the remaining days before Labor Day, fashion magazines have increased their pages for the coveted “September” issues, where they announce the top trends for fall. Though I’m not quite ready to put away my flip flops and flat sandals, I’m eager to try some of the season’s best boots. Here are seven cool new kicks to hit the stores in time for the changing weather.

Vince Camuto “Shaylee” Riding Boot in Whiskey, $104.99, Vincecamuto.com.

Equestrian riding boots are a great summer-to-fall transition shoe. Wear them now with skirts and dresses, and in the cooler weather tucked into jeans. The timeless style and the rich, sleek leather make it worth the splurge.

Steve Madden “Candence” in Cognac, $99.95, Stevemadden.com.

Steve Madden

These have a cowboy boot-esque feel with the short stacked heel and the scrunched up leather, but these are as roomy as they get and are much more relaxed in the toffee color.

Michael Antonio “McKenna” Bootie in Plum, $44, Shoes.com

Michael Antonio

I can’t stop raving about this shoe. Not only does it make your legs look miles long with the heel, but the jewel tone makes it a great pop of color against an LBD. Wear them with tights to keep your feet from freezing without sacrificing your style. Did I mention it’s under $50?

Kelsi Dagger “Fanetta” Wedge Bootie, $79.16, Endless.com.

Kelsi Dagger

If you’re not into the stiletto heeled shoes but still want some height, a wedge does practically the same thing, but makes the shoe actually walkable. These are definite keepers that can last all year round.

Chinese Laundry “Lannie” Suede Bootie in Stone, $49.98, Chineselaundry.com.

Chinese Laundry

The classic oxford gets super girlie and trendy. Pair the shoe with a denim jacket and a floral dress for a sweet look.

Big Buddha “Reese” Bootie in Cheetah, $49.95, Dsw.com.

Big Buddha

A great weekend shoe, these animal print booties are fabulous against a minimalist look with a black blazer, jeans and a tee.

Blowfish “Tarta” Boots in Black Fawn, $65, Piperlime.com.
Blowfish

Pair these luxe-looking shoes with a motorcycle jacket and tucked into skinny jeans for a rocker vibe, or with a printed dress and cardigan for a tough-chic look.
