I’m getting married in three months. Well, three months and a handful of days (ten days to be exact). Wow. It’s crazy how time flies by. One minute you are jumping up and down celebrating your engagement, then you find yourself in a six month lull, and now you are beginning to panic because your wedding is in THREE MONTHS and a handful of days, but whose counting? Oh right, clearly I am.
As I approach my wedding day, here are a few things that I’m thinking about, okay, I’ll stop lying now, completely stressing over.
1. Shoes
Forget say yes to the dress. It should be more like say yes to the shoe. TLC, call me. I don’t think any bride is prepared for the endless shoe search. Finding the perfect shoe to fit your wedding venue, desired height, dress, theme and time of year, is REALLY hard. And I mean really hard. My poor bridesmaids are probably sick of the endless links to shoes. Even with the wedding approaching in, you guessed it, three months (and a handful of days), I still have not decided. Help!
2. Decorations
Our wedding reception is in a tent, a very white tent at that. My biggest stresser (I don’t care if that’s not a real word, eff you red squiggly line) this entire year has been, how do I make it look less like a white tent? I’m still working through this one. I’ve done countless hours of research online and I still have no idea what I want. Luckily, I am working with a wedding coordinator, Rachael Gross, to be exact! She is the owner of lolagraceEVENTS (go check her out people, she’s amazeballs). Where was I, oh yes, luckily, I am working with her and we can bounce ideas off each other to make sure that my white tent, is looking, well less white. Unfortunately, I won’t know what the space is going to look like until the day of but that is something I’m going to have to learn to get over.
3. My hotness factor
A wedding day, for some, only comes around once, and gosh darnitt, I want to look good. And not just good, but like Beyonce good. Now I realize that is a long shot but I have been working very hard on my fitness lately and just upped my nutrition game over the last couple of months. What started out as just a wedding day wish is definitely developing into something more, but more on that later. My advice to you is do squats ladies, because as the wise Bob Harper once said, “do squats because no one ever wrote a song about a small ass”. Truth.
4. Mother Nature
I realize that this is one bitch I can’t control, predict or manipulate but I will still try. Our wedding is in October, obviously hence the three month countdown, and I find myself stressing over the weather. Will it rain? Do I need to put umbrellas on back order? Will it be cold? Do I need to put blankets on back order? Will it be rainy and cold? Ugh. You get the point. And of course this circles back to point #1, the god damn shoes! Will it be too cold for sandals? Will there be dew on the grass? Okay, I have officially mind-fucked the shit out of this one (pardon my french). There is nothing I can do about the weather so I just need to keep reminding myself of that. As of now, it will be a perfect 73 degree day without a cloud in the sky. You hear that Mother Nature, WITHOUT A CLOUD IN THE SKY.
Putting all these stressers aside, I am very excited to marry my best friend and celebrate with our closest family and friends. Forget the shoes, the weather, and my hotness factor, I honestly can’t wait to officially become his Mrs. and begin a new chapter and our already awesome life together.
So brides, future, present and past, remember what your wedding is all about. Love people, love! Don’t worry about the perfect weather or the perfect hair, or the perfect 73 degree cloudless day. Remember that you found someone to share the rest of your life with and at the end of the day that’s all that really matters. Damn, I need to take my own advice.
