If you missed it, the Emmy nominees were announced this morning. Below you will find who was nominated only for the categories you actually care about. You will also see who I think will win (and when I have no idea who will win because I don’t watch such smart television). Here are your 2012 Emmy nominees!

Outstanding Comedy Series:
Curb Your Enthusiasm – HBO
Girls – HBO
30 Rock – NBC
Veep – HBO
Modern Family – ABC
Big Bang Theory – CBS

Our pick: Girls

I would have said Curb, but Larry has been MIA for like a long effing time and I’m pissed at him. However, that episode where young Larry gets caught hooking up with a girl in an ice cream truck deserves an Emmy all on it’s own. BUT until he decides to make a new season of Curb, Girls is getting all my love.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series
Zooey Deschanel – New Girl
Lena Dunham – Girls
Edie Falco – Nurse Jackie
Amy Poehler – Parks and Recreation
Tina Fey – 30 Rock
Julia Louis-Dreyfus – Veep
Melissa McCarthy – Mike & Molly

Our pick: Zooey Deschanel

Lena vs Zooey. Ugh. The fact that Lena made me hate her character so much to the point that I couldn’t stop watching the show means Lena is a great effing actress (or at least I think she’s acting). HOWEVER, I have a giant girl crush on Zooey. She made me LOL every 5 seconds on that show. Never have I ever loved a comedy NOT on HBO… until New Girl. So, Zooey gets my vote. Sorry Lena and everyone else.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series
Larry David – Curb Your Enthusiasm
Jon Cryer – Two and a Half Men
Louis C.K. – Louie
Jim Parsons – Big Bang Theory
Don Cheadle – House of Lies
Alec Baldwin – 30 Rock

Our pick: Larry David

Even though he’s not acting, Larry David is prob the funniest man alive. Now when are you filming for next season?

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Mayim Bialik – The Big Bang Theory
Merritt Wever – Nurse Jackie
Julie Bowen – Modern Family
Kristen Wiig – SNL
Sofia Vergara – Modern Family
Kathryn Joosten – Desperate Housewives

Our pick: Kristen Wiig

If I had to pick one female celebrity to hang out with for a day it would be Kristen Wiig. She is pretty, funny, and awesome. And she can write. And with her exiting SNL just a few months ago, she deserves the win! Sofia Vegara is a close second, but that’s only because she was blessed with this accent that no one understands and therefore laughs at. Julie Bowen is kind of hilarious too, but no.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
Ed O’Neil – Modern Family
Jesse Tyler Ferguson – Modern Family
Ty Burrell – Modern Family
Eric Stonestreet – Modern Family
Bill Hader – SNL
Max Greenfield – New Girl

Our pick: SCHMIDT! (Max Greenfield)

I love Schmidt. He is hilar. He is also going up against the entire cast of Modern Family… and Bill Hader, who has no chance of winning. I mean, I would give our win to one of the fab actors from MF… but they really need to slow their roll. They are legit taking over the Emmys. Other people deserve a chance too guys! If Schmidt doesn’t win (which he unfortunately probably won’t), I hope Eric Stonestreet does. Go Modern Family! Wait…

**Warning: The only drama I watch that was actually nominated below is Mad Men. Therefore, I will not be picking a winner… Just speculating the best series and filling you in on the rest of the noms….**

Outstanding Drama Series
Boardwalk Empire – HBO
Breaking Bad – AMC
Downtown Abbey – PBS
Mad Men – AMC
Homeland – Showtime
Game of Thrones – HBO

If I had to pick which one I think will win, it’s Downtown Abbey. The show is not my scene, but everyone loves it. And award giving people love weird, historical shit. So, even though Breaking Bad is prob better, Downtown Abbey will win.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series
Julianna Margulies – The Good Wife
Michelle Dockery – Downtown Abbey
Elisabeth Moss – Mad Men
Kathy Bates – Harry’s Law
Claire Danes – Homeland
Glenn Close – Damages

I’ve heard great things about Homeland and The Good Wife, so I would choose one of those girls to win. However, the girl from Downtown Abbey will most likely win.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series
Steve Buscemi – Boardwalk Empire
Michael C. Hall – Dexter
Bryan Cranston – Breaking Bad
Hugh Bonneville – Downtown Abbey
Jon Hamm – Mad Men
Damian Lewis – Homeland

I still can’t take Steve Buscemi seriously after his appearance in Billy Madison, so not him. Jon Hamm’s time has past. Sooo maybe Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad? BTW, I hope you realize I am guessing like I did on the multiple choice questions on the reading portion of the SATs. And that was never good.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series
Archie Panjabi – The Good Wife
Anna Gunn – Breaking Bad
Maggie Smith – Downtown Abbey
Joanne Froggatt – Downtown Abbey
Christina Hendricks – Mad Men
Christine Baranski – The Good Wife

Look at those boobs.

Well, since I watch none of these shows except Mad Men, I will pick Christina Hendricks because she has a badass bod.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series
Aaron Paul – Breaking Bad
Giancarlo Esposito – Breaking Bad
Brendan Coyle – Downtown Abbey
Jim Carter – Downtown Abbey
Jared Harris – Mad Men
Peter Dinklage – Game of Thrones

Once again, no idea.

**I still watch none of these shows… except I have kind of seen them all at least one so that helps**

Outstanding Reality – Competition Program
So You Think You Can Dance – FOX
The Amazing Race – CBS
Dancing With The Stars – ABC
Top Chef – Bravo
Project Runway – Lifetime
The Voice – NBC

Our pick: The Voice

TG American Idol is not on this list anymore. The Voice was actually very exciting to me for some unknown reason. Perhaps because E! played many repeats and E! is always on in the background for me unless Pretty Little Liars is on. Any show that can upstage American Idol after years of success is a good show to me.

Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality-Competition Program
Cat Deeley – So You Think You Can Dance
Phil Keoghan – The Amazing Race
Ryan Seacrest – American Idol
Betty White – Betty White’s Off Their Rockers
Tom Bergeron – Dancing With The Stars

Our pick: Betty White (duh)

I hope I’m still killin’ it at 90 like our friend Betty White. She is still hilarious and somehow stays modern despite the white hair and wrinkles. I hope I have it in me to lead a group of elderly pranksters and mess around with young people (aka us). Betty is the epitomy of a forever twenty something. Even though she is old as f*ck. Also, was Ryan Seacrest really nominated for this?

And there you have it. All the Emmy nominees that we actually care about. If for some reason you have an interest in looking at the others,  you can find them on www.emmys.com. Anyway, let me know what you think of my picks. Who will win and who won’t? Or are you against the Emmys because they didn’t nominate Pretty Little Liars for an Outstanding Drama Series… because I am. I mean, WTF.

    • Our picks for winners are almost exactly the same! I am definitely rooting for Girls to win Outstanding Comedy Series. There’s just something that is so likable about the show. I think I enjoy it because Hannah reminds me so much of myself when I was a lost college grad, before I landed my job at Dish. I love everything about that show, except for Adam. Ew. He’s really gross. In fact, I’ve even contemplated just letting the next season stack up on my DVR till he’s gone for good and then start watching again; he annoys me that much! It could take a while, since we only started to see what he was all about at the end of the last season, but I might be willing to wait. Besides, I have the Hopper DVR with tons of recording space, so it won’t be a problem to stash away episodes for as long as it will take. Hopefully, Hannah meets someone soon that treats her right!
