If you had asked my six year old self what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would tell you a singer and/or a rock star. Back then, you could find me singing songs from movies (The Lion King), musicals (Annie), and the radio (Ace of Base, Marky Mark, you know). As I got ‘older,’ I memorized every Britney, Nsync, and BSB song and sang the lyrics during karaoke at summer camp and at friend’s houses. I was convinced I had an awesome voice and would one day be praised by others for my talents. However, my dreams were crushed as soon as I decided to record myself singing into the computer. Did I really sound like that? Because I was convinced I sounded much better… This was the moment I realized I was not meant to be a singer.
After this, I never sang in front of anyone again. Even when people ask me ‘how does that song go?’ I won’t answer because I. can’t. sing. But this doesn’t mean I never attempt to sing. I mean, I would be lying if I said I’ve never belted out one of my favorite songs while driving (alone). And so would you. Let’s be serious – If people didn’t secretly fantasize about being amazing singers, the whole ‘tv-shows-about-people-who-can-sing‘ craze wouldn’t exist.
Because of the obsession with singing competitions and the growing number of TV shows about singing groups, it’s no surprise that a movie solely dedicated to people who can sing is coming to theaters soon. So if you’re into hilarious females, awesome mash-ups, and people who can sing, Pitch Perfect is calling your name.
I mean seriously – what’s better than a bunch of girls who have nothing in common trying to make music together at (our favorite place) college? It’s like Glee meets Bridesmaids. For real. Just check out the trailer:

I’m not just looking forward to the laughs (and many laughs there will be – thank you Rebel Wilson) in this movie… I’m looking forward to the songs I will download and listen to at the gym and in my car thereafter. In fact, the soundtrack is already out and looks awesome. You have hits like I’ll Make Love To You, No Diggity, and The Sign. Not to mention, so many of these songs are mashed together to form a few of what I like to call ultimate mash-ups. I don’t think it could get much better than this…
Well, unless, of course, the songs were picked by… me. And with that, I will leave you with 25 songs that make ME feel pitch perfect (keyword – feel):
