On November 1st, Starbucks brought back their red Holiday cups just as they do every year. But with a twist this time—no Christmas designs. People are FREAKING out. Some Christians are complaining that Starbucks is disrespecting their holiday and everyone else is complaining that the cup is boring.

As someone who worked 3 holiday seasons at Starbucks during college, it was a little disappointing to get my first winter Starbucks coffee of 2015 and not see a dancing snowman. But you know what? I took a sip of my delicious Salted Caramel Mocha and got over it.

First of all, the cups have never been “Christmas.” Most of the time there is an effing snowman on the cup, not Santa. Starbucks has always been known to remain neutral on all religions and beliefs, which is why they are so successful. Also, they still plan on releasing their annual coffee which is called….wait for it….CHRISTMAS Blend (don’t worry, there is also a “Holiday Blend”). So, no, Starbucks isn’t banishing Christmas.

Complaints about the cup looking bland without the design are just ridiculous. January through October, the cups are white and have no design. If you want a snowman on your coffee cup, take a sharpie and draw one. And for those of you telling baristas that your name is “Merry Christmas,” stop judging Starbucks for lacking Christmas spirit and judge yourself for forgetting about that little holiday called Thanksgiving. Also, it’s probably the quickest way to get decaf.

We all go into Starbucks for one reason and one reason only: the drink that goes inside the cup. So shut up and drink your damn coffee.
