Here is a list of the top 10 songs for the recent unemployed college grad/job seeker that I wrote for College Job Connect. You can view the original post here!

1. Don’t Stop Believing – Journey

“Don’t stop believin’, Hold on to that feelin’” – This song is perfect for the job seeker – It’s about never giving up on your dreams and settling. We just graduated college, so we have big dreams – don’t let the economy get you down!

2. Never Say Never – Justin Bieber

“I will never say never! (I will fight), I will fight till forever! (make it right), Whenever you knock me down, I will not stay on the ground…” – Thank the Biebs for this awesome song that helps us to keep going and stay strong! You’re not going to get every job you interview for… so if you get rejected, don’t give up. Another opportunity is on the way!

3. Successful – Drake

“I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes, the hoes… I suppose… I just wanna be, I just wanna be, Successful.” – Don’t we all want to be successful? Duh, that’s why we just graduated college! This song reminds us why we keep searching for a job and why we don’t give up after a few rejections.

4. Tubthumping – Cumbawumba

“I get knocked down, but I get up again. You’re never gunna keep me down.” – This song speaks to job seekers. You don’t want to interview us? You don’t want to hire us? Whatever, we’ll just try another job/company!

5. Sky’s The Limit – Lil Wayne

“The sky is the limit…” – Weezy is great inspiration for us job searching recent grads. Even if you get a job, an entry level job isn’t the “limit.” Weezy is basically telling us that we can make our dreams come true – and more. There is no limit. You will keep moving up and getting closer to your dream job – and eventually you will be on top of the world. Just don’t lose your ambition along the way.

6. Chariots of Fire – Vangelis

The song has no lyrics. But when you turn it on, you will be so inspired to get a job that you will probably land two or three that day. Its THAT good. Well, that’s not exactly true, but the song is pretty damn motivational.

7. Dreams – Van Halen

“So baby dry your eyes, save all the tears you’ve cried, Ohh that’s what dreams are made of. Oh baby we belong in a world that must be strong, Ohh that’s what dreams are made of.” – Talk about motivation. This song provides all that and more! I wish I could post all the lyrics here, but you’ll just have to listen to the song for yourself. The pain you get from rejections – and the boredom you feel at your first few jobs will all be worth it in the end!

8. Heart of a Champion – Nelly

“Ain’t no way they can stop me now, Cause I’m on my way, I can feel my reign comin. It’s the blood of a champion, pumpin, Deep inside my veins, too much pride to be runnin.” – So you’re headed to that interview ready to show that company how unbelievably awesome you are… turn this song on and you will walk in to the interview like you own the place. Well, you don’t want to be TOO cocky, but have confidence. You’re an awesome college grad!

9. Turn My Swag On – Soulja Boy

“Hopped up out the bed turn my swag on, Took a look in the mirror said what’s up?, Yeah, I’m getting money, oh” – Okay, maybe it’s just me, but this song makes me feel like I am on top of the world. Seriously… You wake up, you look in the mirror, and you KNOW that WILL get a job today. It’s perfect. Listen to it every morning and you will have enough confidence to get 10 jobs. Guilty pleasure for sure!

10. All The Above – Maino

“Tell me what do you see, When you looking at me? On a mission to be, What I’m destined to be, I done been through the pain and the sorrow, The struggle is nothing but love…” – Talk about an awesome song… You’re on a mission for a job and you’ve been rejected a bunch of times, but have no fear – you are awesome. You have it all! And the struggle will be worth the outcome (a job!).
