Competition reality shows are my guilty pleasure. Whether it’s singing, designing, or cooking, I’m watching. Then something magical happened, I discovered Wizard Wars on SyFy.
For those unfamiliar, Wizard Wars is a competition show with magicians. Similar to Food Network’s Chopped, these magicians have 3 to 4 random objects they need to incorporate into their magic act. They are judged with a legendary panel including Penn & Teller and Jason Latimer. The show combines imagination, innovation, slide of hand, and hot guys.
Is that a wand in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Most importantly, there are also hot chicks representing the most girl power ever. Christen Gerhart is probably the most perfect 20-something. I mean, who else can pull off a space rainbow unicorn dress?
Even if you’re not magic obsessed, Penn says it best,
“The joy of magic is this wonderful explosion that happens when something you know collides with what you see. You’re seeing something you know can’t be true.”
And that’s exactly what this show is about. It’s creating something out of nothing and using it to entertain. Mix that in with the chance to win $10,000 and you’ve got yourself the most captivating show ever! Good job SyFy.
