Let’s make something clear – I am not against Valentine’s Day at all. I love when my husband showers me with love and gifts on the holiday, whether it’s chocolates, flowers, gift cards, clothes, or jewelry.
One thing I’m not okay with is going out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. Going out to eat is something couples do all year long. If you’re trying to make the day special, why would you spend it doing something you do as a couple all the time? There are plenty of other reasons I hate dining out on Valentine’s Day. Here they are.
1. Every restaurant books up way too early, and the wait times are ridiculous.
I’m not the most patient person in the world but I can be when I need to be. Not on Valentine’s Day, though. The last thing I want to do after a long day at work is sit, stand, and pace back and fourth while waiting to be seated at a crowded restaurant when I have to work the next day.
2. I don’t like large crowds.
It’s Valentine’s Day! I want to at least be able to hear and listen to what my husband is saying.
3. I’m not into PDA.
Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing couples who are madly in love. I just don’t want a million couples surrounding me hugging, making out, and touching one another while I’m trying to enjoy dinner.
4. When it comes to drunk people, I have a very low tolerance.
I have always been a huge fan of sports bars, taverns, and causal dining restaurants. And of course, those type of places sell liquor. I know people are going to get drunk, but if I’m trying to enjoy a romantic evening, I don’t want to be around loud, ignorant, and annoying couples that are two bottles on wine deep.
5. Getting dressed up to go out to dinner on a weeknight isn’t my thing.
I love getting all dolled up every once in a while, but on a random weeknight after work, I would much rather be at home in casual, comfy clothes with no makeup on.
Just because I don’t want to go out to dinner on Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean I don’t want to eat dinner. In fact, I’m down to have a nice dinner at home. Just get me food from Chipotle, El Famous Burrito, Potbelly, Portillo’s, Rito’s, or Rock Bottom, and my Valentine’s Day will be made!
